Coasting into Week 6
October 8th, 2014
Written by: Mick Barnes

With 5 regular season weeks played, a separation from playoff contenders to early drafting franchises has started to form.

Thus far the division leaders(including tiebreakers) are:

AFC North- Cincinnati Bengals
AFC East- Buffalo Bills
AFC South- Indianapolis Colts
AFC West- San Diego Chargers

NFC North- Detroit Lions
NFC East- Philadelphia Eagles
NFC South- Carolina Panthers
NFC West- Arizona Cardinals

Plenty of ball will be played before the division ranks are set and stone.

There is reason to believe the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks will turn around or keep up with their division foes who are currently in the lead.

The Dallas Cowboys are being guided on right path, which may come with the team's 1st divisional title since 2009. DeMarco Murray has help Dallas establish one of the better if not the best Trio of offensive talent, but most definitely the best QB/RB/TE/WR assembly put together in the NFL. Including Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray, Jason Witten, Dez Bryant. Owner of the Dallas Cowboy has built a staff that has resulted in these great players plus an outstanding offensive line including Zack Martin(whom I stuck my neck out as being one of best 2014 draft prospects), the staff including Jerry Jones the President of the team, and of course the hidden gem himself General Manager Jerry Jones.

The Dallas Cowboys are in position to win the NFC East and come January there will be more to that which includes a potential playoff run.

As the respected AFC North, AFC South, AFC West, NFC North, and NFC South are ahead in the divisions in which they lead, it will also be true when the regular season has come and gone.

Andy Dalton is playing better, and better has an upside when the team has as much talent the Bengals have. As from what I'm seeing is a playoff team, actually more of a Bengals playoff team. In that fashion a team good enough to make playoffs but fail to win while in the do or die stage of football.

Colts Nation is a proud state of mind, when the team lost it gained from Peyton Manning to Andrew Luck. Luck has proven to be a great QB prospect. Addition to a future HOF jacket, Luck will be a top 5 QB in NFL history when he gives his arm final rest. As Andrew Luck climbs the ladder of elite passers in the league, the team makes another playoff appearance. An AFC Championship appearance may also be the books if the team continues the success it has after a bad start to the NFL season.

Classy San Diego. 4-1 record with a game against the Oakland Raiders, like good weather and soothing was not enough. Mike McCoy and Tom Telesco have both found a way to get talent and coach the talent on the team to success wins. Philip Rivers is the guy in San Diego, his name is also getting great national attention after a few years on hiatus prior to last season. This continues in February, what happens in February? Not the Pro Bowl.

Matthew Stafford is coming around for the Lions, the team may be without WR Calvin Johnson for Week 6.Heard of MEGATRON? The 3-2 record Detroit currently holds has a been offense and defense. The men on defense are playing together and playing defend the end zone. Detroit is has allowed the 3rd fewest points this season in 5 games(behind SD-5 games, CIN- 4 games). Jim Caldwell might have to edge out the Packers but he brings excellence and the team will build off these first 5 games for the final 11 which includes a Bye week. A playoff victory is in store and if the team continues of D, and the offensive weapons get healthy it could be more than 1 victory in the post season.

Well the NFC South boasts future HOF'er Drew Brees, a gun slinger Matt Ryan, dual treat Cam Newton and a young quarterback looking to improve Mike Glennon. Newton and the Carolina Panthers have a game lead over 2nd place Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints. Carolina may put more on the shoulders of Kelvin Benjamin, his play so far as a rookie is why the team selected him late in the 1st round. Carolina wins division, come January it may be the division win and that's it.

Now the AFC East, NFC East, and NFC West division winners all come down to QB. The one with the best play will lead his team into the playoffs. Tony Romo is playing better than Eli Manning, and there is only one Tom Brady meaning Patriots roll into playoffs and may make a run into late January. Colin Kaepernick will play at a high level, along side the help of his defense in this next chapter of the season. This division will come down to division games won and lost and San Francisco has lost 1 to the current leader Arizona Cardinals.
